Volunteering at St Anthony's

Be part of something special

Our volunteers are at the heart of our school community. When families and schools work together, children thrive, achieving more and staying engaged in their learning for longer (Growing Up in Australia: Longitudinal Study of Australian Children, 2007–2008).

At St Anthony’s, we warmly welcome the involvement of parents, carers, grandparents, and family friends. Whether you have a little time or a lot, your support makes a big difference.

There are many meaningful ways to get involved, including:

  • Supporting literacy and numeracy activities in the classroom

  • Listening to reading

  • Assisting on excursions

  • Joining the Parents & Friends group

  • Helping with school events

  • Acting as a Class Representative

  • Coaching or managing Saturday sports teams

  • Attending and assisting with liturgies and assemblies

  • Sharing your cooking skills

  • Joining the School Board

Have a special talent or idea? We’d love to hear from you!

Volunteer Requirements

As part of our commitment to providing a safe environment for all children and young people, it is a requirement that all volunteers at St Anthony’s School hold the appropriate clearances.

In line with Catholic Education South Australia (CESA) policies, all volunteers must have both:

  • A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Department of Human Services (DHS), and
  • Catholic Police Clearance (letter and card) from the Catholic Archdiocese of Adelaide.

How to Apply

Option 1 – If you do not have a current WWCC

  1. Visit the School Front Office in person.
  2. Bring 100 points of identification (original documents or certified true copies only).
  3. Provide a valid email address to begin the electronic application process.

Once submitted, your application will be sent to the Screening and Verification Authority (SAVA) for processing.

You’ll then receive:

  • An activation email from the Department of Human Services (DHS).

  • A second email with a link, ID, and password to access the DHS portal.

Please note: Processing usually takes up to 30 days. Your WWCC will be sent via email, and your Catholic Police Clearance (letter and card) will arrive by post. Bring both documents to your school site induction.

Option 2 – If you already hold a current WWCC

Your Catholic Police Clearance will then be initiated and sent to you by post via SAVA.

You will also need to complete the online Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RHHAN) training.

The training is available online through plink.

To complete the training, create an account through Non Department for Education Staff and follow the instructions.

Once completed, please print your certificate and bring into the Front Office to be sighted and copied.

Before starting, you will also need to complete an onsite induction at the school.

As part of this process, you’ll receive a Volunteer Induction Pack, which includes important information and a few necessary forms to complete. This pack will help you understand your responsibilities and support you in your role as a valued member of our school community.

We look forward to welcoming you!
